Secret #1: How to write an incredible eBook!

Copyright 2004 Bluedolphin Crow - All Rights Reserved.

Aho!

I shouldn't be telling you this:

One of the biggest problems that most eBook writers and
sellers face is generating eBook sales. It seems like
the Internet is full of "ideas" - however, these
"ideas" don't seem to be producing results.

Three reasons come to mind:

Reason # 1: eBooks are not marketed effectively.

Reason # 2: eBook sales pages either do not exist, or
they do not capture the buyers interest.

Reason # 3: The eBook is not written and/or organized
well.

So many of us hear about the big boom in eBook sales.
Most of us have read articles and/or eBooks teaching
us that we should have our own product out there to
be successful.

Well all of that is true. However, where the "ideas"
fall short of producing results is in all three
reasons listed above.

That is the reason I am writing this 7 part article
series for you. In it you will learn how to correct
all three reasons above and much more!

Look at what you'll be learning:

Secret #1: How to write an incredible eBook!

Secret #2: Creating your marketing timeline for long
term success!

Secret #3: How to create an avalanche of sales with
freeware/shareware sites!

Secret #4: Creating passionate articles will explode
your sales!

Secret #5: How to build steady sales for years to
come with eBook Directories!

Secret #6: Creating momentum and identity through
Book Sellers!

Secret #7: How to create a mountain of sales using
multiple Royalty Publishers!

Ok, now there is no time like the present. So lets
begin:

Secret #1: How to write an incredible eBook!

Why is it essential to you're marketing success
to write an incredible eBook?

Gone are the days of taking marketing information
and regurgitating it in a different manner. Then
publishing it as an eBook and moving on.

Today people on the web want information.
However they are looking for NEW information.
New ways of doing things. Not the same old,
same old, wrapped in a new cover.

So, with this in mind how do you write an
incredible eBook you might be wondering?

Let me first assure you it is not as difficult
as you might first suspect.

First, lets set into place the basic foundation
steps for your eBook.

Answer the questions in the following steps.

Step 1: What is the main focus of your eBook.
In other words, what do you want the reader
to take away after reading your eBook?

Step 2: What kind of research do you need to do?

Step 3: What is the order you have to divide your
information into?

Now, as you answer the above questions openly and
honestly you will build the foundation of your
eBook upon which you can build a successful
marketing blueprint.

Great! Now it is time for you to begin the basic
plan for your eBook.

Step 4: Write a mission statement of why you are
writing this eBook.

Step 5: Write out what makes your eBook different
from all the rest. For example do you have exclusive
information, an original format, and/or an exclusive
offer?

Great! Now you're on a roll. Let's begin the final
phase of planning your eBook.

Step 6: Using all the information above and your
research, write out a table of contents.

Step 7: Now rewrite the table of contents into hot
selling sentences. For example: instead of
Chapter 1: How to increase your eBook sales.
Use: 7 Secrets to explode your eBook sales!

Step 8: Write your eBook introduction.

Step 9: Write the forward to your eBook.

Step 10: Write out the closing statement to your eBook.

Step 11: Create a plan of action to finish writing your
eBook. Take at least one plan of action step a day!

Step 12: Reread your eBook and correct grammar,
punctuation and typographical errors. Try to have at
least one other person read and correct your eBook
as well.

Wonderful! You have now finished your first eBook.

Next week we continue with this seven part series with:

Secret #2: Creating your Marketing Timeline for Success!

Copyright 2004 Bluedolphin Crow

Aho!

You can increase your sales and free time by creating
your own marketing timeline. Marketing timelines are
essential for all Internet businesses. They provide
not only organization but a truly well defined goal
sheet as well.

To understand your timeline is to understand your
business. Can you really know where you are going
if you don't have a goal? I think not! Can you
really tell how well you are doing if you are not
logging your results? I think not again! Can
you really tell what your profit margin is at
this moment and will be next month at this time
without tracking your sales, goals and future plans?

Well I think you know my answer by now.

There is tons of internet marketing "How To"
infiramtion online. However have you noticed very
few people teach you how to organize your information?
Well, now you will know.

My marketing timelines include: goals present and
future, Action plans for today and tomorrow as well
as next month, and last but definitely not least
you have a sales tracker as well.

Ok. Now take out a sheet of paper, and for computer
lovers, open up your word processing program.

Let's begin with our goal sheet.

On top of the page in BIG letters type:
Goal Sheet - Short Term

Now grab another piece of paper, or another page,
and on the top of that one in BIG letters type:
Goals - Long Term

Next page write in BIG letters:
Action Steps - Short term
And another page in BIG letters:
Action Steps - Long term

One last page in BIG letters write: SALES

Now you have the foundation you need to begin really
understanding your ebusiness as it grows and matures.

Grab a file folder, or on the computer, make a file
folder that says: "Marketing Timeline." This folder
will hold all your files.

Page one: Short term Goals: Make 3 columns.

Column 1: Date

Column 2: Goal

Column 3: Date completed Goal

Page two: Goals - Long Term: Make 3 columns.

Column 1: Date

Column 2: Goal

Column 3: Date Completed Goal.

Page 3: Action Plans short term: Make 3 columns.

Column 1: Date.

Column 2: Action Steps.

Column 3: Date Completed Action Steps.

Page 4: Action Plans - Long term: Make 3 columns.

Column 1: Date.

Column 2: Action Steps.

Column 3: Date Completed Action Step.

Page 5: Sales tracking - Make 3 columns:

Column 1: date

Column 2: Sales

Column 3: Continuing Total.

I can hear a lot of you out there groaning,
"there must be a way to automate this!" and yes
there is! However, I want you to do it manually
when you first start your ebusiness. I have found that
this will not only show you how you are doing and where
you are and what has to be done to get to where you
want to go. It also helps to seat all the information
in your unconscious brain. Walla! Automating the Brain!

Really, I am serious. By doing this manually you will
learn a lot more in the beginning and not have to learn
it as you go along. For those of you that can't wait
to automate, I have included links to a lot of
automated services and software in my eBook:
"eBook Marketing Secrets Revealed."

Have a great week!

Secret #3: Creating an avalanche of sales with
Freeware/Shareware sites:

Copyright 2004 Bluedolphin Crow - All Rights Reserved.

Aho!

Freeware/shareware sites provide a unique opportunity
to market your eBooks. This type of marketing method
allows the buyer to try your eBook on their computer
before paying for it. You simply password protect part
of your eBook.

There are numerous freeware/shareware sites on the Internet.
Most offer software. There are some, however, which will
allow ebooks in EXE format to be listed and sold as
software.

After you begin to utilize this avenue of marketing you'll
begin to notice a steady stream of sales. Many of the sites
also list the number of downloads you have had, next to the
title of your eBook listing, making it easy to track your sales.

Unfortunately at this time you cannot upload PDF ebooks,
they are considered documents and not software.

One thing you will have to watch out for are the sites
what charge a fee for listing your ebook.

What I do is list my ebook at the free sites first.
Then I take some of the profits from those sales and
apply it to the sites that charge a fee.

The sites that charge a fee are the larger sites
and many people have sold thousands of copies of their
ebooks on them.

One more thing to know about freeware/shareware sites.
In order to qualify to have your ebook on the sites you
must be able to give it away for free.

Now, those of you who are selling your ebook there
is an easy way to accomplish this. You simply make
another copy of your ebook, and this time you password
protect most of it.

You should allow the buyer to see the table of contents
and one or two chapters for free. Then when they want
to read the rest of the ebook they have to buy it.

I have also found it is better to stay away from the
automated programs when dealing with the
freeware/shareware sites. They do not include the
best sites and many of the sites will not list you
if you use them.

Although this is a way to really increase your sales,
don't fall prey to the one mistake many eMarketers make.
Many of them list their eBook on a few of
freeware/shareware sites, get a jump in sales and
then promptly forget to list at the rest of the sites.

Your goal with Freeware/shareware sites is to maintain
a large steady increase of sales not just a temporary
jump.

Here is one of the Freeware/shareware sites that allow
you to list your eBook for free. Plus, they will list
you on all 6 of their sites at the same time!

http://www.sharewarejunction.com/submit/

Happy listing!

Blessings,

"7 Secrets to Explode your eBook Sales!" Part 4 By Bluedolphin Crow

Secret #4: Creating passionate articles will explode
your eBook sales!

Copyright 2004 Bluedolphin Crow - All Rights Reserved.

Aho,

All the experts finally agreed on something. Writing
articles about your eBook can be one of the most
successful ways of eMarketing.

However, one of the biggest problems on online is
learning how to write a great article. You should
not just type any old thing and call it an article.

First, you must put your passion, your personality
into the article. In addition here are some steps
to follow to explode your eBook sales using free
articles.

Step 1: Generate an article idea that everyone will
want to read about. Review your eBook and look for
the benefits that your eBook provides to the readers.
Make a list of these benefits.

Now, take one benefit at a time and create an article.
This will assure you of generating an article idea
that people want to read about.

Step 2: Write a simple outline. Once you have your
first benefit idea selected. Take another sheet of
paper and write a simple outline for that idea. This
will give you the beginning content for your article.
Later we will "fill in the blanks" of this simple
outline to create the article itself.

Step 3: Choose a killer title that will draw attention.
This is one of the most important aspects of your article.
Without a killer title, your article will be passed over
for another.

Now what do I mean killer title? What I mean is a title
that has a benefit stated in it and draws peoples
attention.

Answer these three questions to help you write that
killer title.

1. Does the title draw a reader to take a look?

2. Does the title promise to solve a need for

the reader?

3. Does the title offer specific information?

Another way to start writing killer titles is to write
at least 20 to 100 titles for each article to start.
Then review other people's article titles. Then review
your list and select your best killer title. I will tell
you from my own experience that the more titles I write
for an article, the better my title becomes. I have
never used any of the first few titles when doing the
above exercise.

Step 4:

Grab your readers with an attention-grabbing opening
sentence. You can use either a statement or a question
here. The idea here is to not only grab the readers'
attention. It's also to keep it.

The best way I have learned to write an attention-grabbing
opening sentence is to go online to an article directory
and read the opening sentences to articles with a similar
topic. I then discover which opening sentences are
attention-grabbing and which are not.

Once I've done this I find it really easy to get my
attention-grabbing sentence out of the way.

Step 5: State the primary purpose of the article by
introducing a problem. By looking at your main benefit
again you can turn it around into a problem. What is it
like without the benefit? Here it is best to use a
statement rather than a question.

If you are having trouble with this step simply write
out an answer to this statement:
"One of the biggest problems..." Use this to jar your
idea centers in your mind. You can also begin your
primary purpose statement this way. Look at the
beginning of this article for an example.

Step 6: Take out the sheet of paper that has your
outline on it. Now, write two to four sentences for
each part of your outline. Imagine for a moment that
a 7 year old has asked you about your article. How
would you explain it to that child? Great! Now use
that in your article.

Most ezine publishers and owners like articles between
400 to 1500 words. They also want it formatted to between
60 and 65 characters per line, including spaces.

I have found it best to use "notepad" when beginning to
write out my articles and NOT a word processing program.
This way there is NO formatting in the article. It is
just the article in plain text.

Another point here is to use the word "you" a lot. You
want the reader to feel comfortable while reading.

Step 7: Include two to three free resources that the
reader can find online to illustrate and/or highlight
your article content. Using this of course is only if
it is appropriate to your article content.

Step 8: Write a resource box for the end of your article.
Make this between 4 to 8 lines max. Here is where you
tell a little bit about yourself and then highlight your
website or email address. See the bottom of this article
for an example of a resource box. It is the information
that follows, "about the author," below.

Step 9: And finally, with your article written it is time
to reread and rewrite. I have found that reading it aloud
and/or having one or two other people read it helps a lot
at this stage.

Don't run into a problem many beginning article writers
fall into. Many of them don't like something
they wrote and try to begin again. STOP! Don't begin
again. Simply edit around the copy that flows.

Step 10: Now last but definitely not least, reread your
article for grammar mistakes and use spell check one last
time! This IS the most important step.

Once your article is done you should do the following
two things.

1. Submit your article to "article announce" services
online. An article announce service is a email service
that posts articles for everyone. You have to be a member
to submit your article. Once you join you can post your
articles as you have them completed. Usually only one
article submission to each of the announce services per day.

Writers, Publishers and Website owners watch the articles
being announced for content that they can use.

When you join these services, it is best to use a second
email address. This way the large numbers of articles you
will be receiving will not interrupt your personal and
business email.

Here are a few article announce services to subscribe to.
After you email them to subscribe, READ the email they
send you and FOLLOW the directions on formatting your
article for each of them. This will increase your ability
of having your articles published in these services.

I have listed only article announce services that are
located at Yahoo eGroups. After you have subscribed and
read each email you receive. Go to this URL to post
your articles:

2. Ok Great! Now its time to submit your article to online
article archives and article directories. Article
directories and archives are web sites that contain
hundreds and thousands of articles from all over the
world. Once you post your article at one of these
locations your articles will be in front of thousands
of readers, Publishers, writers and website owners.

"7 Secrets to Explode your eBook Sales!" Part 5 By Bluedolphin Crow

Secret #5: How to build steady sales for years to
come with eBook Directories!

Aho,

Are you making this mistake in your business?

Are you to busy to submit to more than a handful of eBook
directories? Or worse yet, are you to busy to submit to
even one!

Stop! By all means take a minute to read this short and
to the point article. It will help you to build steady
sales for years to come.

Before we begin, here is what you need to put together
before you start going to the directories.

1. Great eBook Cover

This is a MUST! In order to promote correctly you

must have a great eBook cover. In this case, the

cover does sell the eBook.

2. 3 descriptions of varying lengths written out into

a text editor like notepad. Begin with 2 to 4

sentences and build to several paragraphs.

3. A list of 10 keywords.

Now, let's take a look at these separately.

First, a great eBook cover. Now there are eBook cover
makers on the Internet that you can buy to make a great
looking cover. You can also use some of the drawing
programs that are out there. If making your own ebook
cover is daunting to you, just relax and use this method:
Buy one from a professional eBook cover maker.

In this article I do not have enough room to help you
with the eBook Cover Programs. Simply go to a search
engine and look them up.

(Note: I will have an extensive list of eBook Cover
Programs in my upcoming eBook:
EBook Marketing Secrets Revealed. Please see the
end of this article for information.)

However, I can help you with a custom cover. Here is
a wonderful cover creator for you:

http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?bdolphin/coverart

Just copy and paste the above URL into your browser and
away you go! Have fun!

Ok, now where were we. Oh yes…

Second, writing 3 descriptions about your eBook. This
is an essential step and must not be taken lightly. You
will need these descriptions when you go to enter your eBook
into the eBook Directories.

The reason I have you write 3 of varying lengths is to
accommodate the different directory layouts.

Third, make a list of ten keywords. This is very important.
I suggest you go to some of the directories first and type
in some keywords you think you'd like to use and see what
the results will be. This will show you what others are
looking under and what other eBooks will be listed. This
way you can narrow down your ten best keywords.

In addition to your list of three descriptions and keywords
add the following to you file: your title, your name, email
address and website URL.

Ok, now let's move forward.

eBook directories will increase both your short term and
long term sales. It all depends on the directory itself.
Some directories have a large audience that shops regularly,
this will increase your long term sales. Other directories
have large spurts of sales and of course this will increase
your short-term traffic.

eBook directories are not just good for sales, they make
excellent research helpers as well. When I was first
beginning my first eBook I went to a dozen or more eBook
Directories and researched via keywords the different
topics my eBook would carry. This gave me a great idea
of what was already on the market and where there were
possible niche markets.

In addition, I found hundreds of eBooks to download for free.
This is the biggest help I had in getting over the Internet
learning curve. I also learned from those eBooks how to
write an eBook and how not to write an eBook. It becomes
oh so clear when you use this type of research.

Today there are so many people submitting to the eBook
directories you need to become familiar with the many
different types of directories before you begin listing.

First there are still some directories that are free to
list in. Then there are those that charge a fee to list
unless you don't mind waiting 30 days or more in which
case the listing becomes free again. Still others ask
you to add a link to your website before they will add
you to their directory. You must decide which avenues
you wish to walk down and then head for those types of
directories.

Many of the directories today utilize submission guidelines.
When you see this make sure you take the time to read them.
They are invaluable! The more you know about a particular
eBook directory the better your chances of gaining a good
listing.

Here are three eBook Directories to get you started.

http://www.ebookdirectory.com/index.html

http://www.wisdomebooks.com/add.html

Well that's it for today!

Happy listing!

"7 Secrets to Explode your eBook Sales!" Part 6 By Bluedolphin Crow

Secret #6: Creating momentum and identity through
Book Sellers!

Aho

99% of them were wrong when I asked this simple question.

Who are the best eBook Sellers online today?

The answer I received from most of my ezine list was Amazon.com.

Well here is the good news. Amazon.com is not the only
bookseller on the Internet.

Today at first glance things can be rather confusing.
Booksellers or e-publishers are popping up all over.
Each one seems to bring a new twist to the profession.

Electronic publishing is an industry that is still in its
infancy. It encompasses eBooks, as well as print-on-demand
technology. Many new innovative companies have been
attracted by the exciting possibilities and as a result
there are numerous competing companies, software formats
and accompanying handheld readers and printer/binders.

In this new "Wild West" of publishing, with multiple reading
choices and no clear leader or standard yet established,
confusion reigns for consumers as well as publishers.
However, much as we have witnessed in other maturing
industries, the competition is fierce, resulting in rapidly
improving technology, dropping prices with emerging standards.
The purchase price of eBooks could be as much 80% less than
a comparable book purchased through traditional bookstores.

It used to be you submitted to a traditional book publisher
and waited to see if you were accepted. Today, there are
all kinds of choices to become familiar with.

Now before we begin let's narrow down the field a little.
There are 3 different types of booksellers that I am
referring to.

The first is an online bookseller that you need a publisher
to contact before they will look at your eBook.

Second is a bookseller that charges a royalty percentage to
sell your eBook.

And last but not least, an online bookseller that will sell
your eBook for either a flat up front fee or for free.
This means you retain 100% of the profits from your eBook sales.

Today we will be talking about the third, or the last example.

Why use online booksellers is probably what you are asking
yourself right about now.

Here are the answers:

1. Books written by the Author never go out of print.

2. Authors can write what they want without formulas being
dictated.

3. Crossing genres isn't a problem.

4. All profits are kept and not shared.

5. eBooks can be changed and/or updated easily.

6. Authors have a global audience.

7. Increases your online identity.

8. Builds momentum for your sales.

Now, once again you also get to keep 100% of the profits
from your eBook sales. WOW!

Compare those figures to the normal print royalties: 7%
on 50,000 copies for trade paperback, 8% on the first 150,000
copies for mass market paperback, or 8% to 15% on 15,000
copies for hardcover.

Another great advantage of this type of booksellers over
print books is that you always retain complete rights to
your title and your agreements will be non-exclusive
(meaning that you may also sell your work through other
publishers). Either party may terminate the agreement by
using a thirty-day email notification.

Once again this short article is an excerpt from my new eBook:
eBook Marketing Secrets Revealed. Inside you will find
numerous low fee and/or free eBooksellers listed for your
convenience. To jumpstart you on your way today, here are
two booksellers I recommend you try right now.

Well that's all for today.

Happy selling!

"7 Secrets to Explode your eBook Sales!" Part 7 By Bluedolphin Crow

Secret #7: How to create a mountain of sales using
multiple Royalty Publishers!

Aho!

Are you making this mistake in your eBook business?

You submit your sales page to search engines. Then you
submit your eBook to a few eBook directories. Then you
wait for the sales to come in.

Well, it's time for you to begin using the 7 Secrets in
this article series to help explode your eBook traffic.
By systematically using each of the 7 secrets you will
build a large foundation that will bring in a lot more
sales for you. However, you must keep using the 7 secrets
to keep the momentum building.

Ok, now for today's topic: How to create a mountain of
sales using multiple Royalty Publishers.

First let's establish the difference between today's
secret of royalty publishers and yesterdays secret (#6)
of Booksellers.

In this fast changing climate it is really hard sometimes
to tell the difference. The difference we are working
with in this article is this: Royalty Publishers will
publish your eBook and charge a royalty or percentage
of your sales as their means of making money.

Because there are no costs for paper and ink, binding,
shipping, returned copies, or other fees, eBooks are
typically sold at 25% to 50% below soft cover prices.
Yet, due to large royalties, most authors receive more
income from the sale of their eBooks than from their
traditionally printed counterparts

So you might be asking yourself, why would you use royalty
publishers if you already are using the Booksellers.
There are two reasons that come to mind.

First, you want your eBook to sell as many copies as you
can. Second, you want your eBook to gain popularity on
the Internet.

If in the future you would like to have your eBook put
into print the sales you receive using these 7 secrets
will help you a lot to prove your case that the eBook
sells well.

A royalty publisher will actually do most of the work
for you. They take care of the downloading from their
site, the order processing and any other details. They
charge you a small % of your sales to do all this work.
Many will give you a website designed to sell your eBook
that you can use to market it. Otherwise they provide you
with sales help.

Many royalty ePublishers allow you to sell your ebook
on multiple ePublishing sites. This gives you the advantage
of selling a lot more copies of your ebook. However,
a word of caution, you MUST read the terms and conditions
of each of the royalty publisher before selling to more
than one. You must make sure that you are dealing with
a "non-exclusive" royalty publisher.

So, as you are trying these 7 secrets don't forget the
royalty publishers. They are worth the time invested into
them in sales and name recognition.

Now here's the really good part - Royalties from electronic
formats are a massive leap forward for writers, from the very
first copy sold!

As an example, your electronic download royalties could be:
40%, 50% or even as high as 80% Once again, compare those
figures to the normal print royalties: 7% on 50,000 copies
for trade paperback, 8% on the first 150,000 copies for
mass market paperback, or 8% to 15% on 15,000 copies for
hardcover.

The main thing to look out for is hidden up front fees with
royalty publishers. There are many that charge them in addition
to the royalty percentage.

Below I will list 2 royalty publishers to get you started. Both
of these charge only the royalty percentage and NOT any other
fees.

For a larger list of NO FEE royalty publishers please see my
eBook:
eBook Marketing Secrets Revealed.
